The domains

Areas

The persistent domains of life that cut across the hierarchy. Five are in use today — a working set, not a fixed taxonomy.

Orientation

What an area is

An area is a persistent domain of life. Goals, projects, tasks, and data can belong to one. Areas are not bounded or completable — they are ongoing dimensions of living, the context in which everything else sits.

Areas are user-defined. Res does not hard-code them; the agent creates, edits, and deletes them as the shape of their life changes. The five below are the current working set — the domains that earn their own context today. They are suggested, not prescribed.

The five

Physical Health

salus · 'soundness, well-being'

The body and mind together as the single instrument through which every other area is acted on. Sleep, diet, movement, recovery — the inputs and maintenance that determine what one is physically and cognitively capable of. Without it, every other freedom is exercised in a narrower range.

Includes

Sleep, exercise, diet, recovery, medical care, mental health.

Learning

disciplina · 'instruction, training'

The deliberate enlargement of what one knows and can do. Books read, skills practised, lectures sat with, conversations followed. Learning is where new beliefs are formed and old ones tested against the world. Without it, the system stagnates around what was already known.

Includes

Reading, study, courses, deliberate practice, skill-building, external stimuli taken seriously.

Social

societas · 'fellowship, association'

The capacity to act with and through others. Family, friendships, professional ties — the relationships that multiply what a single person can do, and the obligations that come with them. Few things worth doing are done alone; the area is structural, not ornamental.

Includes

Family, friendships, networking, mentorship, community, the people one shows up for.

Work

opus · 'work, the thing produced'

Any sustained, aim-directed activity — paid or not. A craft, a job, a business, a side-project, a volunteer commitment. Work is where intention becomes output in the public world. The area is intentionally broader than a job: if it produces something and is pursued with an aim, it belongs here.

Includes

Career, business, craft, ventures, contracting, deliberate output of any kind.

Thinking

cogitatio · 'reflection, deliberation'

The meta-area — self-organisation, planning, the iteration of Res itself. Thinking is where the system is examined, refined, and re-aligned with what one actually wants. It is self-referential by design: the act of using Res is, in part, a Thinking action.

Includes

Planning, journalling, reviewing, refining the system, decision-making, sitting with hard questions.
