The substrate in which knowledge is held — atomic, addressed, interlinked. The system of storage that turns understanding into something the future self can find, query, and build on.

The mechanics of note storage — what counts as a note, how notes are identified, how they are linked, how the collection is backed up and migrated — deserves its own treatment alongside Knowledge (the substance) and Study (the practice). This is the system of storage that makes the other two possible in any durable way.
The questions to be worked through here include atomic note identifiers and immutability, link types and their semantics, the difference between literature notes and permanent notes, indexing for retrieval, and the relationship between notes and the rest of the model (areas, tasks, beliefs, knowledge). For now, this page marks the territory.
